Among the celestial beings, few are as renowned as Saint Michael the Archangel. Known as the warrior spirit, Michael holds a unique reputation among archangels: he is God's sword, the heavens' weapon against the forces of darkness.
According to Catholic and Orthodox teachings, Saint Michael led the heavenly host in the battle that cast the dark archangel, Lucifer, out of heaven, condemning him and his demonic legions to hell. He will also lead the final triumph against evil in the ultimate divine victory.
In addition to his role as a heavenly leader, the Catholic Church attributes other significant roles to Michael: he is the representative of death, tasked with guiding deserving souls to paradise; he is also the judge of souls and the patron of the chosen people of the Old Testament, who gave birth to the Savior.
Above all, Michael embodies honor and duty in opposition to the chaos and disunity represented by the devil. He is the avatar of divine victory.
