Description

Described as the most original creation of the Roman pantheon, Venus is the goddess of desire, fertility, love, and beauty. She embodies and satisfies passionate desires. Born from the sea, she is the counterpart to Vulcan and Mars, the gods of war and fire. Venus unites man and woman in the creation of life and was the principal goddess to whom pregnant women offered their reverence and gifts.

Her influence on classical and Renaissance art is immense, and remnants of statues and temples dedicated to her can be found across the territory of the ancient empire. During the European Renaissance, she became famous as an erotic yet pure icon.

One of the great works of this period is "The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli. The impact of the painting is so great that our statue is directly inspired by this artwork. Our Venus, like Botticelli's painting, is rising from the sea, elevated on a shell.
