Lucifer, the Morning Star, son of the dawn and bearer of light. The brightest among the sons of God, the most famous of the archangels. Immense were his virtues, but as great as they were, his pride. And because of it, Lucifer rose in rebellion against the divine throne, and one-third of the heavenly hosts joined him until Michael put an end to the insurgency.
Deep was his fall into the void that would come to be called Sheol, Hell. There he was condemned to watch over the souls of the damned until the reckoning at the Apocalypse. Since then, he has been known by many names: the Dark Archangel, the Fallen Angel, Devil, Demon, Satan, the Enemy. Since ancient times, he has been represented in various forms in Christianity.
He is the adversary, the embodiment of all evil, and the origin of sin, the corrupter of Eden. But he is also a tragic figure, seeking a lost paradise through his own mistakes, a story of warning. Whatever the truth, his shadow is long, and whispers about his being haunt humanity to this day, even in the age of science and skepticism.
