Jesus Christ is the most important historical and religious figure that exists. His life and time on earth were so impactful that entire civilizations and societies were built upon his teachings. Even in the way we measure the passage of time. Modern historians may try to change the acronym, but the truth remains unchanged. Our years are counted from the birth of Christ, in Anno Domini. Jesus built the Holy Catholic Church of Rome upon His apostle Peter, and even after centuries of schisms and reforms, Christianity remains the largest religion in the world.
Much beyond His historical significance, is His religious importance. Jesus is the Son of God. The prophesied Messiah, born of the Virgin Mary. His coming to earth, recorded by the Gospels of His apostles, teaches a story of love and compassion, of piety and forgiveness to a world shrouded in darkness. Above all, it is a story of salvation.
Two thousand years after His death, we celebrate His birth at Christmas and His resurrection at Easter. We pray in His name and unite in marriage before the altar of His church. In respect and reverence, we made this statue of Christ, with His Sacred Heart, a symbol of His love for all the children of God.
