The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far."
Thus begins the most famous work of H.P. Lovecraft, and no other excerpt better encapsulates the core of his stories. The American writer turned away from traditional horror, crafting tales filled with an ancient, existential, and incomprehensible terror that haunts anyone who dares to look at the stars.
Of all his named creations, none is more famous than the god lying dead and dreaming in the sunken city of Ry’leh. The unnamable Cthulhu, whose dreams are a source of anxiety and terror for humanity, waits for the moment of awakening. A sickening and iconic figure, with the body of a dragon and the face of an octopus in a humanoid form, Cthulhu reigns over Lovecraftian imagination.
Our statue is original and aims to faithfully replicate how it is described in "The Call of Cthulhu," when Francis Wayland Thurston discovers Wilcox's sculpture among his great-uncle's inheritance. Little did Thurston know that this discovery would lead him to a future steeped in darkness, drawn from that clay horror of ages immemorial.
